Casting Call For Raine's New Short Play "Like The Sea"

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Casting "Like The Sea", a 10-minute monologue to be presented as part of SOOP To Nut's 2023 Short Play Festival. Synopsis; "Like the Sea" is a heartfelt play that explores the deep bond between two trans men, Amadi and Yung, as they take a vacation to celebrate Amadi's recent top surgery. Set on a hotel balcony in a tropical location, the play delves into their personal journeys and emotions surrounding gender transition. Through candid conversations and a spontaneous act of vulnerability, they find solace, support, and a profound sense of freedom.

Note: There is implied topless nudity for Yung's character. This scene and blocking will be adjusted based entirely on the actor's comfort level.

ROLES AVAILABLE:

Amadi: Trans man. 18-40. Any ethnicity.
Recently post-op for top surgery - a boisterous, animated man who is relishing in the lavish vacation he and his friend are on to celebrate his top surgery. He's quick on the uptake and lives life with flare. As this piece is explicitly about celebrating the character's top surgery, actor must be comfortable going shirtless/wearing an open shirt.

Yung: Trans man. 18-40. Any ethnicity.
Pre-op trans man on this vacation to celebrate his friend Amadi's top surgery. While he is happy for his friend, he can't help but harbor a tinge of jealousy, as he's in the process of saving up for his own. He's quiet about his emotions, but wears them on his sleeve - whether he wants to or not. Sometimes timid, but isn't afraid to have fun and in the presence of friends is quick to a joke. This role is explicitly about top surgery and there is a topless scene, but this can be adjusted and blocked entirely to the actors comfort and will be discussed beforehand.
